How to setup your Cloud9 IDE (for the first time)
If AWS Cloud9 has ever seemed a bit intimidating to setup and learn on your own; Launch School now has a live Introduction to Cloud9 Workshop. So far it’s helped many students correctly setup and use their IDE for the first time:
It was very helpful and accessible. It would have taken me way longer to setup and use Cloud9 without guidance.
And by popular demand, Launch School is also running the following workshops:
- A comprehensive walkthrough of functions/methods: including variable scoping rules for JavaScript and Ruby
If you were not able to RSVP last year, we invite you to attend next week’s workshops:
Tuesday January 24th at 7pm US Eastern
In this workshop Grace takes you through how to define and invoke functions in JavaScript. You’ll also learn the difference between arguments vs parameters, return values and how JavaScript variable scoping rules work.
Thursday January 26th at 6pm US Eastern
In this workshop Trevor introduces you to the Cloud9 IDE and the benefits of using it. You’ll learn how to setup and use the Cloud9 environment for the first time along with several coding tips for getting started.
Friday January 27th at 6pm US Eastern
In this workshop Clare guides you through how to define and invoke methods in Ruby. You’ll also cover the difference between blocks and methods, arguments vs parameters, return values and how variable scoping works in Ruby.
If you’re unsure about RSVPing, here’s what some of the attendees have said about the workshop experience:
“Overall, it was informative and worth my time, I’ll definitely attend more!”
”I was a bit shaky and unsure if I had set up AWS C9 correctly/optimally for use in Launch School. This webinar helped confirm I followed the steps correctly and gave some helpful hints I wasn’t aware of.”
”I can not wait for other webinars!”
“Thank you for giving us this peek into what the Launch School is all about.”
Looking forward to seeing you there!
