Beginner-friendly Guide to Git/GitHub
After launching the Introduction to Git & Github set of Workshops, many new students have found it to be a great beginner-friendly learning resource:
“I really enjoy the instructors teaching style. The workshops are taught at a good, slow pace. Covers even basic things for those of us that are new.”
Due to their popularity, Launch School has decided to re-run the Git and Github workshops along with the following:
- Variables as Pointers & Mutability: Learn how variables act as pointers in Ruby and JavaScript and how mutability works with Arrays and other collections.
If you were not able to participate last time, we invite you to register for the upcoming workshops:
Monday November 28th at 8pm US Eastern
In this workshop Grace will show you how mutability works with Arrays and Objects in JavaScript. You’ll also learn about variables as pointers and how this applies to the concepts Pass-by-Reference and Pass-by-Value.
Thursday December 1st at 12pm US Eastern
In this workshop Clare will introduce you to GitHub. You’ll learn how to setup an account with authentication and how to connect a local repository. You’ll also discover how to upload and download files from GitHub.
Friday December 2nd at 12pm US Eastern

If you’re still unsure about attending a workshop, here’s what some of the attendees have said about the workshop experience:
“Love Launch School’s free Programming Essentials sessions! Really helps learning from live sessions.”
“I want more seminars!”
“I am still extremely new to these concepts and the explanations were so easy to understand and apply to the code.”
“Practical tips, straight to the point. No watered-down pop wisdom philosophy.”
We hope to see you there!
